Welcome to the 2016 NCAA Final Four Trip info page. Dates for the trip are May 27 to May 30. This year we will be taking our 4/5 Blue (2023/24), 6 Blue (2022) and 7 Blue (2021) travel teams. We anticipate playing 2-3 games per team, spread out over Sunday and Monday. Of course we'll be watching the NCAA Championships, tailgate and sight see again. And we are working on repeating the ball boy opportunity from 2015.
We are happy to say that we have been able to reduce the cost of the package by a significant amount. The player registration package cost $500 last year and is $445 this year. The Non-Player package was $250 last year and is $170 this year. That is almost a 20% savings.
Registration has been set up so please take care of it ASAP. The NCAA is holding our ticket block until April 20th. If we don't get in our order by then we loose the ability to sit together and we loose any shot at doing the ball boy program again, which was a huge hit last year. Last year the NCAA provided very liberal access to the ball boy program. This year they are requiring a minimum ticket purchase and they want the orders in early.
This is how the registration works. First, the NCAA Final Four registration is SEPARATE from our summer travel team registration because the NCAA Final Four trip is optional. Second, the NCAA Final Four registration has 2 components. Part 1 is the VIP PLAYER REGISTRATION, which covers: coaches travel, lodging and stipend, field rental, insurance, ref fees, ONE 3-day club level ticket for the NCAA Final Four, 3-day access to the Dragons tailgating tent, catered lunch and refreshments on Saturday in the Dragons tailgating tent. If your son is playing on one of our travel teams then you need to complete this registration. Part 2 is the VIP NON-PLAYER PACKAGE, which covers ONE 3-day club level ticket for the NCAA Final Four, 3-day access to the Dragons tailgating tent, catered lunch and refreshments on Saturday in the Dragons tailgating tent. You need to purchase a VIP NON-PLAYER PACKAGE for each additional person attending. Lastly, the VIP PLAYER REGISTRATION runs through our registration page, but the VIP NON-PLAYER PACKAGE is available in our online store.
Here is a video of last year's trip so you can reminisce or, if this is your first time going, you can see what the fuss is all about.
Our team hotel is the same as last year, the Warwick Hotel Rittenhouse Square (They are changing the name from Radisson Blu Rittenhouse Square). We have a limited number of rooms available on a first-come, first-served basis at a highly discounted rate. Room choices include both King beds and 2 Queen beds. To reserve your rooms, please contact the hotel directly and mention that you are part of the Santa Monica Dragons room block. If you call the hotel during peak hours, your call may get routed to the national reservation center. The people that work there sometimes do and sometimes don't know about the room block, or have bad information regarding the status of room availability. If you are being told that the rooms are sold out, call again at a later time and talk to a different operator. We were told that our room block was sold out on the very first day it was open for reservations. Hotel info is:

Info On The Games We Are Playing.
4/5 Blue and 6 Blue have 2 games each. Both games are on Sunday in Radnor at 9am and 11am at Radnor High School. Same time and location as last year.
7 Blue has a total of 3 games. The first game is at 9:30am on Sunday in Radnor. The 2nd and 3rd games are part of the Future Champions Tournament that is being held as part of the NCAA Final Four. This tournament is new and will travel with the NCAA Final Four. So next, year, when the NCAA moves to Boston, so will this tournament. We ARE NOT participating in the full tournament. We are only playing on Monday AM. 7 Blue is entered in the 2020 division since they did not have enough teams for a 2021 division. We expect the games to be similar to our Spring league games here in LA when we played in the 7/8 division, and 6 Blue players that are interested are welcome to join. So the general scenario is similar to the Monday games we played last year against Maplewood from NJ. Both games are on Field 1. Field map is below.
Rosters: Each team will have approximately 13 players. The core of each team is the respective travel team. We are supplementing each team with players from other Dragons teams, as well as some guest players from OC Crush who are traveling to the Final Four independently.
Getting To and From Radnor: The trip to Radnor on Sunday morning will take 30-40 minutes. The trip from Radnor to the stadium should take about an hour. Address:
Radnor High School
130 King of Prussia Road
Radnor, PA 19087
Getting To and From River Winds Complex: The trip to River Winds Complex on Monday AM should take about 30 minutes. It is located on the other side of the Delaware River, directly across from the airport and stadium. The trip from the complex to the stadium should only take about 20 minutes. Address:
River Winds Complex
1000 River Winds Drive
West Deptford, NJ 08086
Tailgate, Ball Boys and Other Activities
Tailgate: Just like last year, we have a series of activities planned. We will once again have a tailgate in Lot K. Same place as last year. Only difference is that the NCAA is no longer setting up tents, they are using the parking structure roof for shelter instead. We once again have a 20 x 20 spot in approximately the same location as last year. We are including last year’s map for reference. We are providing a catered lunch on SATURDAY ONLY from Bomb Bomb BBQ. There will be no lunch or other food at the tailgate on Sunday and Monday.
Ball Boys: We once again managed to get a gig as ball boys for the DII game at 4pm on Sunday. Being a ball boy turned out to be a lot of fun last year because players were able to watch the entire game from the field, and even received some very cool SWAG. If you are interested in having your son be a ball boy, please contact
. Priority will be given to players that did not get to do this last year. As always, this is first-come, first-served.
We are supposed to arrive around 3pm or "directly after the first game." Rendezvous spot is the Headhouse Lobby in front of the stadium (see map below). The lobby is right next to the fan fest and our Dragons tent, so it is a good idea for you to locate it on Saturday so you know where it is. Our contact is Lew Sears (215) 313-6698. You are responsible for getting your player to this on your own. We will not have Dragons staff waiting to round up the kids to take them. If you are an alternate and are hoping to get a shot at this, you need to be at the rendezvous to see if someone dropped out.
Ball Boy List: Below is the Ball Boy list. We are allowed 12 and have exactly 12. If you wool like to be an alternate, please let me know in Philly and we’ll see if anyone drops out.
Salisbury Autograph Signing: Salisbury has an official autograph signing at either 9:45am to 10:05am or 10:35am to 10:55am on Saturday. After the signing Coach Berkman will give a special talk to our players. We are waiting for a confirmation from the NCAA on the exact time and will pass that along as soon as we have it.
Group Photo: We will have a group photo opportunity on the field at the stadium after the 2nd semi-final game on Saturday. An NCAA rep will come to our seats and escort us down on to the field following Game 2.
Field Walk: We are also working on an opportunity to allow our players to walk on to the field prior to the DI championship game on Monday. This is tied to the tournament 7 Blue is playing in so we are still working this one out. Again, we’ll pass along details as soon as we have them.
